Adventures In WES Preschool!

It's a Snow Day! Who doesn't love a snow day?  Actually, let me rephrase that... what KID doesn't love a snow day?  I hope having to do remote learning doesn't ruin it for the older kids.  Hopefully they can get their school work done and still get out and play in the snow (and maybe they will appreciate not having to go to school later in June. I know I do).  The good news for the preschoolers is that our remote learning is fun!   Assignments:   1. GO OUTSIDE and  PLAY IN THE SNOW !  Make a snowman, throw snowballs (not at people of course 😉 ), sled, snowshoe, or do anything else that they enjoy doing outside in the snow.   2. Come inside, make hot chocolate, snuggle in and  read books .  See if you can find a book about winter. 3. For a  science experiment :      a. Bring some snow inside on a plate.       b. Pack half of the snow into a snowball and leave the other half unpacked.     c. Guess which snow will melt first.     d. Guess how long the packed and the unpac

Bird Feeders We spent the week making our bird feeders, and today we hung them on the branches at Southworth Park.  We're excited to see what critters have come when we check them next week. We also had special cookies at snack to celebrate Arien's last day at Westshire.  We wish you the best at your new home and school Arien!  We'll all miss you!     

 Thank You for Our Rain Suits! A very generous donor gave every classroom at Westshire a class set of rain suits for the kids to wear in rainy, wet weather and down by the brook.  What an incredible gift!  As all of you parents know, our preschool takes frequent trips to the brook and plays outside rain or shine.  Your children often come home with a bag of wet clothes from our adventures.  Now, all the kids will have rain suits to wear to the brook or out on our wet playground when it's raining.  Yah! The suits arrived today with perfect timing for us to try them out on possibly the last warm day of the year for us to play in the water at the brook. What a gift of both rain suits and warm weather.   We lucked out today!

BACK IN PERSON  It's great to be back in person.  Despite only being remote for four days, it seemed like a long time because of the Thanksgiving break.  The kids were excited to see each other and played well together all day.  Check out the fun activities we did today while inside. Everyone enjoyed playing in the sand table. We started painting bird feeders.   There was talk of colors and shapes while copying and making our own designs. Plenty of imaginative play went on as well. It's not a day at preschool without some kind of truck play. And our beginning engineers created fantastic vehicles.
