Eating the Rainbow

Katie Cole, our Farm to School and Outdoor Education Assistant, visited our class two weeks ago and taught the students a lot about healthy food choices.  We talked about different fruits and vegetables, their colors, and what part of the body those foods help: red foods help heart health and memory, and green foods help bones, teeth, and eyes... (see the chart above).  After learning about these foods and how they help us stay healthy, we made veggie wraps for snack.  I was impressed with how all the students at least tried their wrap and many of them ate the whole thing.

Once again, we highly encourage families to send in healthy choices for snacks and lunches.
We always have the students start with their healthy (or growing) food before they can eat their sugary treats.  Please save candy for home.
