Tie-Dying

Image
Tie-Dying with Olivia's Mom! Thank you, Maria, for bringing in all the materials (dye, t-shirts...) and helping each student tie-dye their own t-shirt.  The kids had a great time dying the shirts, and they are so excited to see what the shirts will look like when they're unrolled.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day The preschoolers had a wonderful time preparing for our Mother's Day muffins and coffee morning.  I'm not sure what they enjoyed the most... making the muffins, painting the hand flowers on our sign, or telling the teachers all the things they love about the mothers, but preparing for the morning was a ton of fun for everyone. Without a doubt, however, the highlight of the week was having their moms, dads, or grandparents come in on Thursday morning to eat muffins and pick up their special Mother's Day cards.  I hope those moms that couldn't make it into the classroom last Thursday morning still got the cards and the muffins that we sent home.

Greenup Day with the Mountain School

Greenup Day with the Mountain School      Friday was Greenup Day for the Westshire School.  All the students in the school spent time picking up trash, weeding and generally cleaning up the school grounds.  In preschool, we had students from the Mount School visit and help us clean up our playground and the area right outside the fence.  The high schoolers raked the woodchips into piles, and the preschoolers used our trucks and buckets to transport the woodchips from the grass to the parts of our playground where we want the chips.  We also weeded and raked the leaves near that fence and picked up sticks that were all over the lawn.  After 30-45 minutes of cleaning up our playground, the preschoolers took their high school buddies to the "big kid" playground for some fun.
