Spring is coming!

Image
Spring is coming! Despite the wind and chilly weather, the spring is coming.  The snow is melting and the playground is beginning to dry out.  We walked to the river yesterday and saw that the ice is gone and the water is running high from the melting snow.   You can feel the excitement in the students when it is warm enough to take off hats and mittens or unzip coats.  In a few weeks we'll be able to send the snow pants home and just wear rain pants when it is wet outside.  Duck, Duck, Goose! Birthday Girl! LOOK!  NO SNOW PANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drumming

Drumming! The preschoolers had a great time learning about drumming and actually getting to use the drums during music.  We have some kids who really have good rhythm.

MATH As the spring slowly arrives, it is the time of year that we start formally assessing the preschoolers again to see how they have progressed since the fall assessment. The good news is that all of the preschoolers are making fantastic progress! The pictures below are examples of some of the math assessments we've been doing.   Sorting by vehicle type (cars, trains, buses...) Sorting by size (small medium large) Measuring (6 buses long) Graphing (Which size elephant has the most/least in its group?) Identifying shapes and colors, Matching, Problem Solving, Fine Motor skills, Working together... Patterns (red, yellow, red yellow...) Counting (to 10, 20 or beyond) and Identifying Numbers
