Kale Salad - New tastes

We had a special guest join us today!  Juni's mom came in today and helped us harvest kale leaves from our garden and then prepare a kale salad.  Kale is a pretty mature taste for many and some of the kids weren't as enamored by the taste as others, but they all agreed that they enjoyed the process of picking the kale, ripping it up, and turning it into a salad.  It was a perfect way to spend a cold, gray morning and learn a bit about the food we eat.  Thanks Makenna!

Southworth Park

Southworth Park We've taken advantage of the beautiful weather that we've had over the past couple of Tuesdays and have hiked to Southworth Park for fun and adventures.  Ms. Beth, our outdoor educator, has built a fire with the kids, and we've made popcorn and hot chocolate. The kids have enjoyed digging in the dirt, finding worms, building fairy houses, playing tag and so much more.  It's always enjoyable to read books and eat snack up there too. A few of the second graders even joined us one day.
