Science Looks Like Many Things How do I build a damn that doesn't let the water through? Preschoolers learn about the world around them while they play. They inspect and observe things. They experiment by doing and redoing. More often then not, they don't even realize that they are learning science. To them it is just playing. This is why it's so important to let your preschoolers play outside, get wet, get dirty, try things that you as an adult know won't work, but they haven't learned yet. Their curiosity will lead their play and the more open ended activities they do the more they will begin to learn and understand the world around them. You can help guide their learning by joining in on their play. Ask them questions: why did you try that? What else could you try?
