Hard Work Can Be A Blast!

Hard Work Can Be A Blast!

With help from my sister, Mary, who is visiting from Wisconsin, the whole class worked together to clear our corner fort from weeds, rotten logs, and big sticks.  We picked up the last of the grass that we weeded from the bike loop, put it into wagons, and carted it all away. The kids designed and built a walkway through the fort with some help from Mary while I helped the kids carry materials away to toss in the woods.  We also use a ton of the grass that we weeded from the bike path to cover the ground in the fort.
It was incredible to watch them work together towards a common goal with very few disagreements.  Everyone pitched in and they were all so proud of what they accomplished.  Check out the pictures to see what we did.

Teamwork!                                           These kids are stronger than you think.

Clearing the grass from the bike path.

Heading back for more sticks and weeds.                   The fun things you find in the dirt.

A huge load!

Planting grass.

           Push and pull!

Setting the stump path.

It's amazing what we can accomplish when we work together.

More worms!

A full load!                                         Heading back for more.

...and more ...and more.

We used a ton of the grass that was weeded from the bike path and unloaded the rest.

Of course, we needed Inspectors to test for safety.

When we started the project, the corner was overgrown and hard to play in.

Now the kids can play in the corner, the teachers can see them, and the sticks, tree limbs, and rocks are gone or play a function in our fort.
