A VINS Visit:
STEM - Building Bridges
We had a special visitor from VINS visit on Monday. Ms. Hannah and her squirrel came to teach us a bit about bridges and brought various materials for the students to work with to make their own bridges. The kids worked in pairs with curved ramps, tubes, and paper. They worked together to figure out how to get their cars across the "river". It was a rich and involved lesson where the students communicated their ideas, listened to their partner's ideas, tested hypotheses, changed tactics, and had to work out problems... I had fun listening to their conversations, negotiations, and problem-solving.
On Thursday, some of the students spontaneously started "building bridges" with their bodies.
