We love our Outdoor classroom!

 

Earlier this fall after reading "We're Going on a Bear Hunt," the kids decided to go on our own bear hunt.  


"You can't go over it."


"You can't go under it."


"You gotta go through it." 


"Oh no!  It's a Bear!"



TEAMWORK!


The kids love to build and play in lean-tos.  They add sticks, twigs, and various plants to the structures. 





After attending an outdoor education workshop at the VTEAYC conference our staff attended in October, I decided to buy two hammocks to hang in our outdoor classroom.  
The kids LOVE them!

 

 


 


Who doesn't like a fire when it gets cold.  Last week it was cold enough for a fire and just warm enough to take mittens off to eat roasted marshmallows (and lick sticky fingers).

VINS: Snakes!!!!

  A REAL snake came to visit the classroom! Hannah, from VINS, visited again last week and brought a garter snake for the kids to see and even touch. We learned about what they eat, where they live, and how they shed their skin as they grow. The highlight of the day was the very funny puppet show and getting to touch the snake. Snake Bingo What do garter snakes eat? Through the puppet show and the Bingo game, the students learned that garter snakes prey on mice, fish, frogs, crayfish, snails, slugs, and more. Snake Skin When snakes grow, they shed their skin. Snake Habitat Game The REAL thing!!
