Sugaring

Thanks to Beth, our Farm to School and Outdoor Education Coordinator, the kids learned a little about how sap is boiled down to make syrup and then they were given a taste of four different grades of syrup. For an extra special treat, she made sugar on snow for each student!  You can see by their expressions how interested they were to learn about the different flavors of syrup.

Southworth Park We've taken advantage of the beautiful weather that we've had over the past couple of Tuesdays and have hiked to Southworth Park for fun and adventures.  Ms. Beth, our outdoor educator, has built a fire with the kids, and we've made popcorn and hot chocolate. The kids have enjoyed digging in the dirt, finding worms, building fairy houses, playing tag and so much more.  It's always enjoyable to read books and eat snack up there too. A few of the second graders even joined us one day.
