 VINS - Sticks, Sticks, Sticks

Ms. Hannah, from VINS, visited today and taught a lesson with sticks.  The kids built shapes and letters with the sticks. They stepped, hopped, and jumped over sticks, and they listened to directions and made music with the sticks. In groups, the kids worked together to build homes for a grey squirrel, a brown squirrel, and a chipmunk. Much fun was had as the kids learned to use the sticks in so many different ways.  What a treat!

Hannah will be returning five more times throughout the school year with a variety of different science lessons.

Southworth Park We've taken advantage of the beautiful weather that we've had over the past couple of Tuesdays and have hiked to Southworth Park for fun and adventures.  Ms. Beth, our outdoor educator, has built a fire with the kids, and we've made popcorn and hot chocolate. The kids have enjoyed digging in the dirt, finding worms, building fairy houses, playing tag and so much more.  It's always enjoyable to read books and eat snack up there too. A few of the second graders even joined us one day.
