 Welcome Izzy

Many of you saw this morning that we have a new student in our classroom. Izzy and her family are back in the area after living abroad all fall. The staff and students are all excited to have Izzy join our class for the remainder of the year.

Today has gone remarkably smoothly given that it is the first day back after a long vacation. The kids jumped right back into that class routine.  We were also lucky that our outdoor classroom was one of the outdoor spaces that was not flooded in the December rains. We do have a new sandy beach along the water's edge, but the rest of the area remained mostly unchanged.

Southworth Park We've taken advantage of the beautiful weather that we've had over the past couple of Tuesdays and have hiked to Southworth Park for fun and adventures.  Ms. Beth, our outdoor educator, has built a fire with the kids, and we've made popcorn and hot chocolate. The kids have enjoyed digging in the dirt, finding worms, building fairy houses, playing tag and so much more.  It's always enjoyable to read books and eat snack up there too. A few of the second graders even joined us one day.

 Fun in the Outdoor Classroom We continue to have fun and learn in our outdoor classroom. Last Tuesday we read an ABC book with alphabet photographs from nature. We then looked for and made our own letters out of nature. Check out the letters we made.
