Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Over the course of the month, we had a wonderful time reading about Thanksgiving, talking about people we are thankful for, cooking and creating Thanksgiving art project.  It's always fun to talk with preschoolers about the people they love and enjoy spending time with.  We hear stories and explanations of why they love their parents, grandparents, sibling, cousins, pets and others, and they tell us of the fun activities they enjoy doing with their families.  We hear about everything from reading books and watching movies together to hunting and riding tractors.  It gives us some insight on what the children enjoy doing when outside of school.

Making turkey's and working on our fine motor skills!

The students in every grade made something to add to the school wide Thanksgiving dinner.  Our class made corn bread.  In the spirit of preschool, the kids learned and dabbled in math without even knowing they were learning. As a group, we talked about measuring cup sizes; we counted scoops; we learned how to break an egg (always a adventurous activity with preschoolers); and we counted to 20 (several times) while stirring the batter.

The kids enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving meal.  Vi, from the kitchen, made the turkey and gravy. Kindergarten made the Jello, first grade made the rolls, and Ms. Zoerheide made the potatoes. Yum!

Thanks also to Monica Austin for the fruit turkey and other treats!
